Workshop Description:

Fiona Hammond will guide you through all the steps involved in making your own Exotic Beaded Tassel Pendant – from creating your own special silk fabric using watercolour pencils and foils, to making a beaded bead using brick stitch. Your one-of-a-kind pendant will look amazing on a simple chain or ribbon necklace, or a more detailed beaded rope.

 Topics covered in the workshop:

• Basic brick stitch technique, and how to work this over a wooden bead (including increasing an decreasing)
• How to use watercolour pencils to colour a unique piece of silk fabric for your tassel
• How to use special foils to add exotic highlights to your silk
• Beadweaving basics: starting and finishing your threads; keeping good tension in the work; conditioning beading threads
• General construction techniques for your tassel, including wire wrapped loops
